PRACTICAL GUIDE

What this tool does

Base64 represents bytes using text characters. It is useful for carrying content in formats that cannot accept binary data directly. Conversion here is intended for UTF-8 text, including accented letters and other Unicode characters. It is not intended to display images or decrypt messages.

How to use it

  1. Choose Encode and paste the text to convert.
  2. Process and copy the Base64 result. Whitespace in the original text is preserved.
  3. For the reverse operation, choose Decode and paste standard Base64.
  4. If the decoded bytes are not valid UTF-8 text, the tool reports an error.

Recommendations before downloading

  • Base64 is not encryption: anyone can reverse it.
  • Encoding usually increases the size of the content.
  • This tool expects standard Base64, not the Base64URL format used in JWT segments.

Frequently asked questions

Can I protect a password with Base64?

No. Password storage requires appropriate hashing mechanisms, not reversible encoding.

Does it work with binary files?

This interface converts UTF-8 text. Binary bytes that are not valid text are not displayed as readable content.
