PRACTICAL GUIDE

What this tool does

JSON represents data with objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans and null. This tool checks syntax and organizes indentation; it can also remove structural whitespace for a compact version. Minified output is not produced by serializing numbers with JSON.stringify, avoiding rounding large integers during minification.

How to use it

  1. Paste a complete JSON document or import a .json file.
  2. Choose Validate to check syntax without transforming content.
  3. Use Format to inspect nested objects, or Minify to remove whitespace outside strings.
  4. Copy the result and separately validate your API’s schema or requirements.

Recommendations before downloading

  • Strict JSON requires double quotes and does not allow comments or trailing commas.
  • Syntax validation does not guarantee that a field exists, has the expected type or matches a schema.
  • Duplicate keys may be accepted by some parsers but produce ambiguous results. Avoid them.

Frequently asked questions

Does it validate JSON Schema?

No. It checks JSON syntax. Business rules, required fields and specific types require separate schema validation.

Does it change values?

Minification retains original tokens and removes whitespace outside strings. It does not sort keys or automatically convert dates.
