Formatting organizes presentation with a parser. Your code is not executed.

PRACTICAL GUIDE

What this tool does

CSS controls a website’s presentation. A readable stylesheet makes selectors, rules and media queries easier to inspect. This tool uses a parser to minify CSS rather than global substitutions that could damage strings or values. Rule restructuring is disabled to limit changes to the cascade.

How to use it

  1. Import your .css file or paste the styles.
  2. Choose Format and the indentation used by your project.
  3. To reduce size, choose Minify. Decide whether to remove ordinary comments.
  4. Compare the result and visually check your website before publishing it.

Recommendations before downloading

  • Do not reorder stylesheets or rules during cleanup: it can change the cascade.
  • License comments beginning with /*! are retained when ordinary comments are removed.
  • Minification may normalize values. Test hover states, responsive layouts and important components.

Frequently asked questions

Does minifying CSS make everything load faster?

It reduces stylesheet bytes, but loading also depends on the server, HTTP compression, caching and other page resources.

Does it support Sass or Less?

This page is intended for CSS. Compile your project extensions first and process the resulting CSS.
