PRACTICAL GUIDE
What this tool does
URLs use symbols such as ?, &, = and # to separate parts of an address. When these symbols belong to a value, they must be encoded to preserve its meaning. This tool converts a component with encodeURIComponent and reverses it with decodeURIComponent. It is not a URL builder or link analyzer.
How to use it
- Choose Encode and paste a parameter value, rather than necessarily the entire address.
- Copy the result and use it as a value in your URL.
- Choose Decode to inspect a component with sequences such as %20 or %C3%B1.
- Invalid percent sequences produce an error; correct the input before continuing.
Recommendations before downloading
- Do not encode a full address if ://, /, ? and & must remain separators.
- Do not encode the same value twice: the percent sign is encoded too.
- The plus sign is retained when decoding. For form values that represent spaces with +, use a suitable query-string parser.
Frequently asked questions
Does encoding a URL make it safe?
No. This operation represents characters. It does not check destinations, allowed protocols or redirect risks.
Why does a complete address gain many percent signs?
The tool encodes components, so it also transforms separators. To build a complete address, use the URL API and add parameters individually.
