Work with confidence.
CodeClean brings together local code and text tools. It does not execute the content you paste or connect to your databases.
Start with the format
Choose a tool in the sidebar. You can switch the editor tool using the selector; page instructions describe the tool opened through the menu. Try the built-in example to learn the available operations.
Import and edit
Paste content, import a file or drag it into the editor. The limit is 2 MB per file. Undo and redo retain up to 80 input states during your visit. Find and replace uses literal text, not regular expressions.
Process and review
Input and output are shown separately. An error does not erase the last successful output: it is labeled as the previous result. When you change input, process it again before downloading. Use output copies the result into the input editor.
Available operations
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript: formatting, cleaning and minification.
- JSON: formatting, minification and syntax validation.
- XML: formatting and syntax validation, without XSD or DTD.
- SQL: formatting with dialect selection, without execution or schema validation.
- Base64 and URL: encode and decode text.
Editor shortcuts
- Ctrl/Cmd + Enter: process.
- Ctrl/Cmd + Z: undo; Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Z: redo.
- Tab: insert indentation. Escape: close search or exit full screen.
Understanding size
The comparison uses UTF-8 bytes, not gzip or Brotli compressed size. Formatting may increase bytes by adding indentation and line breaks. Base64 also usually increases size. A smaller result does not guarantee a faster application.
Privacy and limits
Code is processed on your device and is not stored for your next visit. Keep your original file. Review and test results in your environment before deploying. When you switch languages or pages, the current input is not automatically transferred.
Installing the site
Upload files to static hosting. No backend or compilation is required. For local testing, serve the folder over HTTP; workers do not reliably work when opening files by double-clicking. See README.md to set the domain and generate the sitemap.
