PRACTICAL GUIDE

What this tool does

A long query is easier to review when clauses and expressions have a consistent layout. This formatter organizes SQL for the selected dialect. It does not connect to a database, execute queries or modify tables. Its purpose is to improve the readability of existing code.

How to use it

  1. Choose PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite or Transact-SQL for your database.
  2. Paste the query or import an .sql file.
  3. Choose indentation and select Format.
  4. Review the query and use your database tools to check the plan and results.

Recommendations before downloading

  • The dialect matters: identifiers, functions and syntax differ between engines.
  • A well-formatted query may still be slow or incorrect. Review indexes, filters and execution plans in your environment.
  • The formatter may normalize the presentation of comments and keywords. Keep an original copy.

Frequently asked questions

Does it validate query correctness?

No. Recognizing and formatting tokens does not confirm valid tables, columns, permissions or relationships.

Does it improve query performance?

It does not change the execution strategy. Its main benefit is readability so you can review the query.
